Removing a Kool-Aid Stain

Removing a Kool-Aid Stain

sf you have children, you understand that stains on your carpet are just a part of life. Whether you have children of your own or not, you desire to have your carpets free of stains and protect your investment in carpeting. Carpet isn’t cheap, after all. Children are notorious for staining everything they can reach, from their clothing, to the upholstery, to the curtains and the carpets.

One of the worst stains we must deal with at Carpet Cleaning Nurse's Touch in regards to children are stains made by Kool-Aid. There isn’t much that can make a kid happier on a hot summer day than a big, cold cup of Kool-Aid. It is refreshing and delicious to their little taste buds. These little rug rats, unfortunately, have the coordination of an arm-flailing inflatable tube man and tend to spill this colorful liquid wherever they go, including on your carpets! What can you do? Well, follow the steps below to get this sugary water out of your carpet.
  1. Blot the stain immediately with a clean white cloth. Never rub the stain because doing so may push it deeper into the fibers of the carpet, perhaps even all the way to the pad beneath.
  2. Get a cheap, plastic spray bottle. Hopefully you already have one on hand that you can use. Be sure no chemicals have been in the bottle. Fill the bottle with a solution of a quarter cup of white vinegar, one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, and a cup of water. Spray the stain liberally and allow it to soak for five to ten minutes. Use the clean white cloth to blot the stain until it is gone. If the Kool-Aid stain is stubborn, continue with the spritzing and blotting until the stain is completely gone.
  3. You may need to add a cleaning agent with oxygen bubbles in it to take the stain out if the other methods do not work.

Though Kool-Aid stains are tough, they are not impossible to remove from your carpets. Of course, the best bet at getting any stain out is to call the professional carpet cleaners in Mobile, AL rather than doing it yourself. That way, you are guaranteed to not only remove the stain, but protect your carpet as well.
