How To Clean Up Juice Spills on CarpetWe have all had to deal with juice spills on our carpets before. Removing those stains can be hard work. Following the advice below, though, can help you have a good chance of getting the spills and stains from juice out of your carpets.
If your juice spill has just happened and is still wet, it will be easier to solve your problem. You will want to first remove as much juice as you can from your carpet. You can try to soak up the juice with paper towels or use a shop vacuum if you have one. After you have soaked up as much as you can, use cold water to dilute the juice. Continue to remove the juice then dilute until the spill is removed or no more will come out of the carpet. If the spill is still noticeable and wet, cover the spill with salt and allow it to dry overnight. In the morning, vacuum up the salt. Hopefully, the salt absorbed the remaining spilled juice and will be fully removed once vacuumed. When you are dealing with an old spill, removing the stain is harder. It is possible, though, depending on the severity of the stain and the condition of the carpet. Since juice is acidic, the best way to take care of them is with a cleaner that is alkaline. Ammonia is a great alkaline cleaner to use on the stain. Simply mix eight parts of water to one part ammonia and mix the solution well. Use a white rag to dip into the solution and blot the stain. Never pour the solution onto the carpet. You do not want to have ammonia left in your carpet. Continue blotting the stain with the soaked rag until you get as much of the stain out as you can. If the stain is still there after using ammonia, create a paste with three parts water and one part baking soda and apply the paste to the stain. Work this in gently then, once dry, vacuum the leftover baking soda up. Repeat this process until the stain is removed. After you have removed as much of the stain as you can, be sure to rinse the area well with cold water then remove the water with towels or a shop vacuum. Repeat this process until you have removed as much of the cleaning solution as you can from the carpet. After the carpet is completely dry, vacuum it well.
